Greece was among the first EU counties to adopt policies for the promotion of Solar and Wind Energy back in mid 2000, having as result to install 3,5GW of Solar by 2012 and 3 GW of Wind farms.

After a period of 5 inactive years, as of 2019 the market kick off and today Greece covers 57% of its energy needs with RES while the new National plan has set the target of 75% by 2030 and 95% by 2035.

Electrification will contribute to the increasing demand for Energy in order from 56TWh which is the current demand, to reach 130TWh by 2050. For Energy Storage Greece has set a target of 6,2GW by 2030 and 17GW by 2050.

Hive Energy has developed three projects in Greece.

A 267MW Solar project, which was brought to RTB stage in 2023. A 20MW Solar project, which reached RTB in 2023. The final project received the first emblematic investment in Greece, which has been characterised as strategic investment of great importance with a ministerial decree, combing 200MW of Solar with 100MW of storage and 50MW electrolyser for the production of Green Hydrogen.
