2023 is off to a great start for our Group Company, Ethical Power, with on-going projects and new construction underway

Ethical Power had a busy start of the year with works ongoing across over 10 sites and the start of construction of several new projects both in the UK and internationally in the first quarter of 2023.

Ethical Power’s UK Projects

Ethical Power’s UK Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) arm is currently finalising construction of three ground-mount solar PV parks with further 3 beginning works in Q1 to a total of 130MW in capacity. The sites range in size from 26MW to 45MW and will be the largest projects built by Ethical Power to date.

Amongst the projects most recently built by Ethical Power are the Dalby and Bulkworthy solar parks owned by Ecotricity. Both of them were developed alongside existing wind parks – 4 wind turbines adjacent to the Bulkworthy solar park and nine windmills next to the Dalby solar park.

Ethical Power Connections

Ethical Power Connections, the high-voltage grid connections division of Ethical Power Group, are currently working across multiple projects totalling 445MW of battery energy storage systems and 285MW of solar PV. 2022 was a record year for energy storage in the UK with 800MWh of utility-scale capacity added. Ethical Power Connections, as one of the leading ICPs in the country, were responsible for the connections of nearly a quarter of all BESS installations that year. In 2023, they have further ambitious growth plans in this space.

NEW – Ethical Power Utilities

Finally, the newest entity within the Group – Ethical Power Utilities – of which the core business is civil engineering, groundworks, and traditional construction – has recently achieved full ISO 9001, 45001, 14001 accreditations, as well as partial Lloyd’s NERS accreditation for civils, construction and cable laying, with full accreditation to be sought in the coming months. The Utilities business adds to Ethical Power Group’s strength as the UK’s largest vertically integrated renewable energy company. The ISO and Lloyd’s NERS accreditations allow for further expansion of its services.

Ethical Power Spain

The first international division of Ethical Power – Ethical Power Spain – begins preliminary works on site of the 55MW solar park Fundici near Seville, Spain (developed by Hive Energy and currently owned by Encavis AG). Construction is scheduled for mid-2023 start.

Ethical Power now offering corporate PPAs

As a vertically integrated renewables company, Ethical Power has now taken several solar assets through the complete project lifecycle – from development through design, construction, connection to the grid, all the way to operations, maintenance and asset management. With a growing portfolio of assets under management, Ethical Power is now expanding its services to include sale of green power through Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs).

Today’s consumers expect companies to be transparent about their impact on the environment. Businesses can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and mitigate the risk of volatile electricity prices by buying power directly from a renewable energy source through a CPPA. Ethical Power offers CPPAs for their new-build sites thus helping the corporate buyers of power to also create additionality.  Ethical Power now welcome enquiries from interested offtakers with green power available as early as Q4 2023.
