Hive Energy and Ethical Power have launched a new office in London

Hive Energy and Ethical Power have continued to integrate their businesses through the launch of a new office in London’s Pall Mall. Hive and Ethical’s partnership will facilitate the delivery of over 2GW of solar projects currently in development in the UK and Spain. This marks the latest progress in Hive Energy’s growth towards becoming a fully integrated solar player, expanding its expertise across the life cycle of solar development and delivery.

In November 2020, Hive Energy acquired 50% of the Ethical Power Group, one of UK’s most innovative and ambitious sustainable energy generation companies. Ethical Power has market leading expertise in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and Asset Management. Ethical’s O&M Team operates more than 250MW of PV across the UK and expects to build a further 300MW over the next 12 months.

The new office will act as a hub for Hive Energy and Ethical Power’s partnership, which has currently submitted tenders to construct over 2GW of solar assets across the UK and Spain. The partnership between Hive and Ethical aims to build a sizeable portfolio of high-quality generating assets and secure long term PPAs for its asset portfolio.

Combined with Hive Energy’s leading position as one of the largest solar developers in the UK, having developed over 1,300 MW of sites to date, it’s partnership with Ethical Power has created a fully integrated, market-leading renewable energy business with a proven track record across the whole life cycle of solar energy projects.

On the office launch Giles Redpath, Hive Energy’s CEO, said:

“Hive Energy are looking forward to further integrating our business with Ethical Power, through the launch of our new London office. We believe that renewable energy generation is the most important thing that is going to happen to our planet over the next 50 years. The acquisition of Ethical Power was a great milestone for Hive to transition a leading renewable energy business. This step will further support the delivery of world-class solar projects to support the decarbonisation of our energy system and accelerate the transition to a green economy.”

Ethical Power was previously appointed as EPC contractor for Hive Energy’s projects: 13MW School Farm Solar Park near Rugby currently under construction, and 44MW Woodington Solar Park in Hampshire where construction will commence in 2021. The acquisition forms part of Hive Energy’s 6.5 GW international pipeline of solar and renewable energy projects.
