Prince Andrew met with Colin Loubser, Hive Energy’s Africa Director during the Royal’s three day official visit to mark Botswana’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
HRH The Duke of York visited Francistown to witness first hand how the region has benefitted from trade links between the UK and Botswana in Agriculture. During the visit His Royal Highness met with representatives of the British community in both Botswana and Gaborone to understand the role it has played in Botswana’s development. Hive Energy’s Colin Loubser was among a panel of green energy experts who discussed renewable opportunities in the region and the benefits it could bring to local communities and the economy.

We enjoyed an informal discussion and briefed him on how solar power can help to improve the lives of people living in rural communities as well as boost industrial and mining outputs significantly – all things Botswana is working to achieve.”
The visit was Prince Andrew’s second visit to Botswana having previously accompanied The Queen on a State Visit in 1979.
