Hive Energy was founded in 2010 by Giles Redpath to participate in the anticipated significant solar PV expansion in the UK. According to Bloomberg it is now the 2nd largest solar park developer in the UK and has developed over 300 MW on 26 sites in the last 5 years.
The company was behind the development of the largest grid connected PV site in the UK, Southwick Estate Solar Park which produces 49MW of energy and it owns and operates 18MW of UK sites and 30 industrial, agricultural and commercial roof systems. It is also developing the UK’s first Super Solar Park which will generate 300MW of clean power.
The UK market has now matured and Hive is deploying its development expertise and capital resources in new markets. The company now has a network of 7 global offices with a significant pipeline of international projects under development and over 2.5GW of energy in bid processes worldwide.
In its 7 years of operation Hive Energy has generated over £10m of profit.
Giles Redpath, Hive Energy’s CEO explains why solar is so important to communities, the environment and local eco systems. Hive Energy has now developed over 30 solar farms in the last five years. These generate 300MW of power – that’s enough energy to sustain 90,000 UK houses.
